General
Our Special Services Department's goal is to provide you with answers and resources to help your special needs child have a positive educational experience. If you ever have any questions about the services your child receives, please call the school. We are always happy to help you.
Child Find
Child Find is a component of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA '04) that requires Public Education Agencies (PEA) to locate, identify, and evaluate all children with disabilities, aged birth through 21, located within their geographical boundaries who are in need of early intervention.
Your assistance is needed in locating those children with physical, mental, or emotional handicaps. Alpine Elementary School's Child Find will assist families in identifying services and resources for children below the age of five. This also applies to registered Home School Students in the Alpine District. For information, call Alpine Elementary School at 928-339-4570
AzEIP
AzEIP was established by part of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which provides eligible children and their families access to services to enhance the capacity of families and caregivers to support the child's development. We use a team based approach to providing early intervention services.
McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
Its mission is to ensure that homeless children and youth have access to a free, appropriate public education, comparable to that provided to the children of any Arizona resident and consistent with Arizona's mandatory school attendance laws. Subtitle B of Title VII of the McKinney-Veto Homeless Assistance Act (42U.S.C. 11431 et seq.) is included in the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015. The reauthorization requires that all children and youths experiencing homelessness are immediately enrolled in school and have educational opportunities equal to those of their non-homeless peers. The statute requires every public school district and charter holder to designate a Homeless Liaison to ensure that homeless students are identified and their needs are being met.
Individual Education Program (IEP)
We work with families to create Individualized Education Plans (IEP) to meet the specific needs of their children. This plan includes related services to ensure that he/she receives the most benefit from his/her education. An IEP is a written program that outlines the special education services the student will receive. The services are based on the needs of the student. Pursuant to A.R.S. 41-1351, we will destroy the special education records including intervention, evaluation, and IEP's four years after the student's final enrollment in our district.
